Pre-competition Bonus It’s great to use Smule for those OC’s and to get other great singers to join their voices with yours, but for the pre bonus, let’s get back to basics.

We would like to hear you sing a solo! A nice easy opportunity to get used to how we submit songs in the comp, and a great way to get singing!

You may be able to win a bonus group with an epic performance, or alternatively you may earn 5 points by giving it a try with… mixed results!

If you succeed in submitting an entry you will receive 5 bonus points. If your entry is chosen by the judges as the top song in that group you shall receive 10 bonus points. This is entirely optional but be aware that these points will carry into the cumulative rounds. (p.s. This is a good chance to work through how to make sure you have all the hashtags/art, etc sorted.)

RULES - Please read CAREFULLY

• Sing ANY musical theatre song written as a solo..
• Each group is given 72 hours to complete from when the groups are announced so you may have different deadlines
• One layer only (unless a mentor opens the song for you)
• Songs will need to be in the key they were performed on stage in. You cannot use the key change function in Smule.
• Backing vocals on the track are not allowed. If you are unsure about a version, check with a Head Judge for approval.
• You can only use any of the preset fx settings on the main Smule app.
• You may NOT use any filter or song settings which change the pitch or tuning of your voice or the key of the song. Doing so will result in a penalty.
• You must INCLUDE CORRECT COVER ART/HASHTAGS
• There are TWO Hashtags for this round #MMS9PB and your group hashtag on the Pre Bonus spreadsheet.
• READ ALL THE VITAL DOCUMENTS in the notes. MENTORS can help you choose your song and develop your performance. Head Judges can help approve song choices if you are not sure they meet the round requirements.

Musical Mania Season 9 Bonus 1 Songs from TV shows/Films

Ever found yourself singing along to your favourite film soundtrack, or humming along to a TV theme tune? This is the bonus round for you!

We would like you to sing either a theme song or song from a film or TV show.

Everyone loves a good TV show, Glee is one option, but so is Hazbin, and Anime offers a world of opportunity! Choose your favourite TV Tunes! And get singing!

Please look over the KEY NOTES in the line notes. Particularly the MARKING RATIONALE! The judges will be using this to mark your entries.

Each entry will receive 5 points. A winner from each group will receive 10 points.

Bonus points are collected and are automatically applied to contestants' scores in the case of potential elimination. Any bonus points you have left by round 9 are automatically applied to your score.

Don’t forget that MENTORS can help you with your song choices and give you guidance as you practice your song and as you record. Use them early and use them often. If you are not sure if a song choice qualifies, contact one of the HEAD JUDGES to seek approval. If a head judge approves a song you will need to add ‘Approved by [judges name]’.
